Sailing, fishing, snorkeling, kayaking, swimming with the sea lions, playing on the beaches and sight-seeing are all delightful activities. Another experience many charters enjoy is walking up the arroyos and climbing the hills and mountains. Make sure you bring comfortable shoes as the terrain will be rocky. Also make sure you take some water with you as you can get thirsty very quickly in the desert climate.
Almost all of the bays have arroyos that you can hike and if you continue on hiking to the top you can see the other side of the island. However, just walking up part way invites the opportunity to enjoy a magnificent view of the Sea and to photograph the boat you left waiting for you in a beautiful setting.
One of the most popular places to climb is the mountain on the south end of Isla San Francisco. There is a nice trail up to the top and the climb is not as strenuous as climbs on Isla Partida or Isla Espiritu Santo.
The Desert Flora
Most of our charter guests have never walked in a desert before. You will be amazed by the large number and variety of plants coping with a scarcity of water and some very hot weather! The islands are home to 53 regional endemic plant species and when they bloom, these desert plants are unusually beautiful, as you can see by this series of pictures taken by several of our charters.
