LODGING

I am frequently asked to recommend a place to stay in La Paz. There are many hotels in La Paz, and I am sure there are other ones that might deserve to be on this page. I have tried to give you a wide range based on price, convenience to our boats and ones where previous charterers have stayed. If you are interested in a hotel that is not on this list, I will be happy to check it out for you and give you my opinion. There are several that are not listed due to charters’ dissatisfaction, high prices for services provided or attitudes of the help or proprietors. I would really appreciate, if when you get home, you would send me a short email on how you liked your hotel, for convenience, service and price. IT IS IMPORTANT TO ME THAT YOU HAVE A GREAT STAY IN LA PAZ. We checked these rates in February 2010.

POSADA LUNA SOL - a quaint Mexican inn
This is a small hotel, that is just up from La Marina del Palmar, where the boats of Seascape Charters dock. Most of our charters stay here due to price, proximity to our boats, and upkeep. They have 14 rooms and most are on the second floor. It also has a third story where there is a beautiful palapa with a view of the harbor. They serve hot coffee in the morning, and there is a stove and refrigerator on the balcony where you can do light cooking and store food or drinks. There are two restaurants within two blocks, two more within three. Four blocks away, there are four more at the entrance to the Malecon (the sidewalk and street next to the water in downtown La Paz). I like the area because it is quiet and “off the beaten path". The prices are very reasonable. For example, you can get two double beds for $75. Room 14 even has two doubles and a single. Their rates are $65 plus $5 for each additional person after two for one room. This includes tax. The down side; No swimming pool, although this is in the future and it is about six blocks from downtown. They are also the home of Mar Y Aventuras, a kayak outfit. Great website. http://www.posadalunasol.com 1-800-355-7140

CASA MEXICANA
One of our favorites. There are five rooms with private baths. The gracious American hostess has created the elegance of Old Mexico. One block off the Malecon (street by the water) and right downtown. Very popular, early reservations advised. Website: http://www.casamex.com/, email: inn@casamex.com and phone: 011-52-612-125-2748. Great website with everything. Rates start at $75 with tax.

HOTEL SEVEN CROWNS
This hotel is the newest in downtown La Paz.. They also have a restaurant at the top with good food and a great view of the city. . While they do not have a swimming pool they do have a jacuzzi. Their rooms are easily viewed on their website at http://www.sevencrownshotels.com. Their rates start at $85 with tax.

HOTEL EL MORO
Slightly east of town. Beautiful setting with a nice pool, excellent rates especially for larger parties. A great website at http://www.clubelmoro.com/, email: elmoro@prodigy.net.mx. Phone: 011-52-612-122 4084. Rates start at $81 for two and that includes breakfast

LA CONCHA
This is the old “El Presidente” a hotel run by the government, about 20 years ago. It is also at the present time, the only hotel on the beach in La Paz. It is considered a resort and It's a taxi ride east of town. Very nice. Website: http://www.laconcha.com. 800-999 2252 Prices start at $111 including tax.
